Thank you for your interest in our services! We're honored that you are considering enrolling your loved one in our programs and services.

OE has a long history in Northwest Indiana, with decades of service to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. While so much has changed since we first opened our doors in 1967, our commitment to creating inclusive and equitable opportunities for people of all abilities has stayed the same.

Today, OE serves over a thousand people each year through a suite of services. Whether through educational curriculum, vocational training and placement, respite and so much more, our goal is to create a community where everyone is included and their strengths celebrated.

Medicaid Waivers/Home and Community Based Services

Medicaid Waivers, sometimes called Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), allow Medicaid to fund supports and services for children and adults with disabilities in their family homes or community residential programs instead of institutions. Medicaid Waivers allow an individual to use traditional Medicaid services and the additional services available through the Medicaid Waiver program.

Indiana offers eight Medicaid Waiver programs for people with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, traumatic brain injury and mental health needs.

An application for Medicaid Waiver services can be made online at BDDS Gateway.

Applications are also available at local BDDS offices.
