Opportunity Enterprises offers interns the ability to utilize and develop multiple skills including those gained in education.  Within the doors of OE, one can donate time and talent while also gaining valuable experiences in a wide range of areas.  

Development Internship

 

Opportunity Enterprises’ Development Department is seeking an intern interested in gaining experience in Fund Development for a large non-profit organization, with emphasis on special events planning and marketing.  This is an unpaid position, 10-20 hours per week depending on availability.  Schedule is flexible within regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM).  
 
Skills and Requirements 

  • Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work independently.  Position requires strong writing skills, an outgoing personality, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Flexibility and ability to adapt to change is a must.

  • Experience with graphic design software is a bonus, but not required.

  • Experience with HTML coding is a bonus, but not required. 

  • Students in marketing/public relations, business, communications, or a related field will be considered.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Special Events - Specific tasks will include working on all aspects of planning and implementation of fundraising events, including marketing, designing flyers, brochures, programs, and other print materials, handling event logistics, and sponsorship recognition.

 

OE does a number of events of varying size throughout the year.  The largest events which occur during the fall semester are Packathon, Holiday Open House and ARTability Show. During the spring semester, major events include Celebration of Achievement and Gala.

  • Marketing/PR - activities including writing newsletter articles and client stories, doing press releases, and designing informational brochures and other print materials.

  • Other Duties - General clerical tasks as needed, including data entry, database maintenance, filing, and assisting with mailings.

Human Resource Intern

Opportunity Enterprises is looking for an individual who is eager to learn the facets of Human Resource profession. Intern with a great Human Resource Team!
 
The HR Intern provides quality HR compliance and administrative support to The HR Team.

  • Track progress, deadlines, and priorities of all projects assigned by CHRO

  • Prepare Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents

  • Proofread HR documents.

  • Work proactively with other team members.

  • Prioritize activities for the best interest of the team when working on joint projects.

  • Openly share new ideas and information with other team members

  • Detail oriented when following SOPs

 
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail

  • Able to use office equipment such as a copier and scanner

  • Personable, able to comfortably and pleasantly deal with a variety of people

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills

  • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to share knowledge and work in a strong team oriented environment.

  • Able to intern for 10 hours a week
