Supervised Living
All over Northwest Indiana, in every community, vital and dynamic
men and women are living, working and supporting themselves while
contributing to society. From the beginning, one organization has
been a leader in this astounding progress. One company has been in
the forefront of these dramatic changes. One team has played a major
role in literally changing the way the world thinks about and looks
at so-called disadvantaged people.
Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. currently operates eight group homes
dedicated to serving individuals with a range of mild to severe
and profound developmental disabilities. The homes provide a natural,
non-clinical setting to foster a sense of familial comfort and
stability for our residents. The group homes currently support
six to eight residents per home in either a family or apartment
setting, to optimize opportunities for individual and group training
in areas of daily living, leisure skills, and community integration.
Training is individualized to meet the specific needs of each
individual served. All levels of training are directed toward
assisting each individual in the areas of daily living skills
to increase their independence, enhance self-esteem, and
help each individual realize their value and potential to contribute
to the greater community. Every moment is a potential opportunity
for learning and personal growth. The Supervised Living Program
is an intensive, 24-hour program to allow for maximal support
and to assist each resident as they garner the necessary
skills
appropriate for community living. The amount of personal
assistance varies with each individual, depending upon the level
of assistance
needed by the individual. |
