For Immediate Release: OE acquires additional property
Valparaiso- Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. has purchased 158 acres of Lake Eliza and adjacent land from First National Bank. The opportunity to make such a purchase came about with support from the OE Board of Directors, the Welter Family, and several key donors. “We have worked hard to make this transaction an amazing opportunity to serve our clients, families, and staff well into the future,” notes Opportunity Enterprises President/CEO Gary Mitchell.
Located on the shores of 51-acre Lake Eliza, complete with 107 acres of surrounding land, the new facility will be known as Lakeview. The additional site, which includes a 13,000 sq. ft. program center, will provide much needed space for Opportunity Enterprises to expand its traditional day services, while also offering innovative wellness programs, outdoor education, and diversified recreation activities. “It allows us to expand our current operations and serve the increasing number of individuals seeking services in Porter County and Northwest Indiana,” remarks Mitchell.
The initial phase will open Spring 2008 with the relocation of the senior adult program, Renewed Horizons Adult Day Center, and the enrichment activity program known as Enriching Possibilities. The expansion will provide additional capacity to serve more individuals at both sites. Mitchell states, “This opportunity demonstrates Opportunity Enterprises long-standing commitment to innovative program and services. As we move forward, we will also explore what our facility needs are and create unique partnerships to provide services for all ages and abilities.”
