Opportunity Enterprises Family and Friends Together to Focus on Waivers

VALPARAISO - As part of a new initiative, Opportunity Enterprises is hosting a series of monthly programs open to the friends and family members of persons with special needs. The next OE Family and Friends Together meeting will be held 6:30 p.m., February 18, at Opportunity Enterprises, 2801 Evans Avenue, Valparaiso.

At February’s meeting, Demetris Cole of BDDS will present an “Introduction to Waiver Services” to help parents navigate the ongoing changes in the waiver system. The meeting is open to the public. Those interested in attending the meeting are asked to enter Opportunity Enterprises at the Training Room, Entrance #2, located at the north end of the building. For more information, contact John Seibert, Opportunity Enterprises VP, at 219-464-9621.

The Family and Friends Together meetings are part of a new Opportunity Enterprises initiative, Family and Consumer Supports. The program will provide support for parents, siblings, guardians and friends of consumers, as well as an outlet to be actively engaged with loved ones. It was created by Opportunity Enterprises as it prepares for the increasing number of challenged individuals seeking services as they transition into new programs, the community or the workforce. The objective of this program is to better serve current and potential OE consumer families by sharing resources, information and volunteer opportunities. Family and Consumer Supports

Since 1967, OE has been a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting self-sufficiency and life choices for challenged individuals. OE serves over 1,700 individuals in Porter County and throughout Northwest Indiana.
