History
Opportunity Enterprises began in 1967 as Porter County Association for Retarded Children, which was started by a group of 10 parents wanting more for their disabled children. We have grown into our current 60,000 square foot building, with a staff of over 300 serving roughly 1,700 clients in Porter County and Northwest Indiana. We are a nonprofit organization with numerous sites, including our main Valparaiso campus, group homes throughout Porter County, and our JobSource office in Merrillville.
For the past 40 years Opportunity Enterprises has been a leader in the creation, development, and delivery of exciting programs and opportunities for challenged individuals of all ages. We live in a marvelously dynamic and rapidly changing world where innovation, research, and technology have broadened horizons and increased reality. Our goal, quite simply, is to change the world by changing the lives of the people we serve and their families. We do this by:
